  • He has worked with a number of international organisations including USAID, the ILO and the Inter-American Development Bank and the UN. For the latter he provided the secretariat for their youth entrepreneurship group for the Millennium Development Goals.
  • He is a Trustee of Care International UK chairing their Marketing and Fundraising Committee.
  • He has 25 years senior management experience in Industry and as CEO of the Prince of Wales Youth Business Trust, a leading UK youth charity.
  • He is the strategic adviser for SHABAB in Syria helping that country's young people learn the skills required of them in a modern market led economy.
  • He has founded and helped scale up not-for-profit youth business programmes in countries with diverse cultures and economies such as China, South Africa, India, Ukraine, Argentina, Kenya, Guyana, Syria and Canada.
  • He has extensive experience of leading and managing groups of volunteer business mentors to work with young people seeking to become entrepreneurs and is a mentor for the Prince’s Trust.
  • He is a governor of a leading UK Further Education College with direct experience as a teacher and trainer.

Career Map

2004- Consultant, working in a number of countries and organisations as an adviser on Youth entrepreneurship and Employability.
1999-2004 Executive Director and founder of Youth Business International, a network of youth business programmes helping disadvantaged young people become entrepreneurs. The work included starting and scaling up programmes in 25 countries through capacity building, advocacy and accreditation. It also involved working closely with a number of international organisations including, The World Bank, the IFC, USAID, the ILO and the Inter-American Development Bank and for the UN as the secretariat for their youth entrepreneurship group for the Millennium Development Goals.
2005- Trustee of Care International
1998- Member of the Governing Corporation of the City and Islington College of Further Education, one of the top FE colleges in the UK for training youth and adults.
1995-1999 Chief Executive Officer of The Prince's Youth Business Trust. The PYBT, now called The Prince's Trust, works with disadvantaged young people helping them into self-employment. He was responsible for the strategic and day-to-day management of 55 offices around the UK and 8000 staff and volunteers starting 4500 business a year.
1993-1995 Teacher at the City and Islington College of Further Education. He taught adults and teenagers for a broad range of technical and academic qualifications in History and Business Studies. During this time he was also an independent Member of the Management Board of the Office of Standards in Education.
1989-1993 Managing Director of MB Clarke Ltd. He ran the security print operations of Metal Box PLC producing cheques for the UK.
1986-1989 First Secretary, Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Seconded by De La Rue to the Economic Relations Department, his work entailed negotiation of treaties for international co-operation on mutual legal assistance, financial and commodity matters and setting salaries for international civil servants.
1972-1986 Executive with Thomas De La Rue & Co Ltd. He worked in a wide range of management positions with De La Rue a world leader in banknote and security printing
